Through the generosity of alumni, industry partners and friends of the university, the A. James Clark School of Engineering offers engineering scholarships to talented undergraduate engineering students enrolled at the School. This is a competitive scholarship program. Scholarship awards are made on the basis of merit and/or financial need.
We highly recommend that all students complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by the February 15 University of Maryland priority deadline.
A limited number of scholarships will be awarded to new freshmen for Fall 2008. Students will be considered automatically for scholarships except the FIRST Robotics Scholarship. Notifications will be made by mid-April 2008.
The Benjamin T. Rome Scholarship is awarded to one entering freshman student each year through a competitive scholarship process. The Rome Scholarship covers all expenses (tuition and fees, room and board) plus a book allowance and a stipend. The award is renewable for three additional years provided the recipient maintains good academic standing and makes progress toward an engineering degree. The Rome Scholarship was established by A. James Clark '50, chairman and chief executive officer of Clark Enterprises, Inc. and the man for whom the Clark School is named.
New transfer students should complete the online scholarship application that will be available in March 2008. For best consideration complete the application by May 31, 2008, for the 2008/2009 academic year. Award letters will go out over the summer.
New graduate students should contact their major department for information on scholarships and fellowships.
