The A. James Clark School of Engineering houses and supports many academic programs and clubs that first attracted me to the University of Maryland 's engineering program. While in high school, I was a member of the Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement (MESA) and I was assigned to a gastrointestinal project in which I had to design a model of the system and answer questions about its workings. This project provided me the jumpstart for my interest in biology and showed how so many aspects of an organism's anatomy involve many engineering and physics fundamentals. I interned in a Bio-Imaging engineering laboratory and that proved to be reinforcement that I have chosen the right field of study. Being involved in the Science, Discovery and the University Scholars program allowed us to adapt engineering to theoretical situations and allowed us to give back to the community via community service. Being born into a Terrapin family, I can now boast about our school of engineering and increasing level of academics along with our superior sports teams.
