When: Saturday, November 8, 2008, 9am to 3pm

Where: Jeong H. Kim Engineering Building, University of Maryland

What’s happening?  Join us for a fun-filled day creating engineering solutions for items used every day.  You will also learn about the majors and programs you can experience at Maryland.  You will compete in a design challenge that will test your knowledge!  Current engineering undergraduate students will lead discussions and highlight their projects, and you will participate in team activities to see engineering in action.  No need to bring your calculator!

Schedule:
9:00-9:30am: Registration
9:35-10:35am: What is engineering?
10:40-11:10am: Interactive activity
11:15-11:45am: Real-world applications
11:45-12:15pm: Lunch
12:20-1:50pm: Hands-on design project
1:55-2:00pm: Finalize project & presentation
2:05-3:00pm: Presentations
                     (Parents encouraged to attend!)

How do I participate? 
Registration Deadline: Wednesday, October 29, 2008

Registration for Enlightening Engineering is on a first-come, first-served basis. Space in the program is limited. Please send in your completed registration form as soon as possible to secure a spot in the program.

There is a $50 registration fee, checks made payable to the University of Maryland.  This covers projects supplies, lunch and snacks, and a t-shirt!  A limited number of scholarships are available (please e-mail prospengr@umd.edu for more information).

Who should attend?  We encourage high school sophomores and juniors to attend, and we welcome those interested in learning more about engineering.
