Mission Statement: The mission of the FutureCar Challenge is to develop and demonstrate advanced, fuel-efficient vehicles to parallel the objectives of the Partnership for a New Generation of Vehicles (PNGV). The PNGV development path culminates in a mid-size car having up to three times the fuel efficiency while maintaining the performance, safety, and affordability of today's production vehicles. The FutureCar Challenge provides colleges and universities with the following opportunities: (1)Develop technologies and strategies to increase energy efficiency while taking into account potential manufaturability and affordability; and (2)Publicly demonstrate technical progress and the potential of PNGV technologies.
