A Clark School Giving Priority

In Brief
Technology entrepreneurship is an area of great distinction for the Clark School of Engineering and its Maryland Technology Enterprise Institute. We seek to create a new Center for Technology Entrepreneurship that will:

  • Provide expanded resources for the nationally recognized Hinman Campus Entrepreneurship Opportunities program for undergraduates
  • Establish a corresponding program for graduate students
  • Offer student entrepreneurs consulting and executive recruiting services, contacts with venture capitalists, mentoring and initial funding
  • Create a national program for the scholarly study of technology entrepreneurship.

Impact
By creating a complete technology business education and support program that spans the undergraduate and graduate experience, the Center for Technology Entrepreneurship will strengthen recruitment and retention of students in Maryland-and the technologies and companies they create. The center will thus play a key role in boosting the region's economic development and contribute to the academic exploration of entrepreneurship.

Opportunities
Your gift can support the creation of a new level of technology entrepreneurship education and support in the following ways:

  • Program naming: your gift will provide the center a financial foundation and independence into the future
  • Support for personnel: your gifts to name center professorships will allow us to attract leading thinkers in entrepreneurship
  • Support for center activities, facilities and company formation: your gifts will fund scholarships and fellowships, support consulting and recruiting services, and create seed funds.

How to Participate
We encourage you to learn more about technology entrepreneurship at the Clark School by visiting a Hinman CEOs class or a program such as the Technology Start-Up Bootcamp or Business Plan Competition, or by discussing the proposed Center with a Clark School development officer.
