Building the Innovation Environment — Goal: $20 Million |
|
The ideal setting for engineering innovation has been newly defined with the construction of the Jeong H. Kim Engineering Building—cross-disciplinary, adaptable to change and growth, and open to the world. The Kim Building sets the standard for the facilities, renovations and equipment we need to make the school function at the highest levels. Two such facilities are described below. A New Facility Worthy of the Fischell Department of Bioengineering The new bioengineering facility will encompass both research labs and classrooms. It will be designed to bring together multiple engineering disciplines to address the multifaceted challenges bioengineering presents, including space for interactions with visiting University of Maryland medical, pharmacy and dental school colleagues. Gifts in support of the new facility will help us anchor the Fischell department, give it the standing it deserves, and provide the specialized environments and equipment needed for developing bioengineering breakthroughs and training tomorrow's experts. More Information about the Bioengineering Building Reaching Across Maryland: Distance Education Technology and Services We plan to create a new facility to centralize and consolidate now-dispersed functions (and free space in other buildings), modernize computer, video and communications technologies for greater capability, flexibility and growth potential, and offer meeting space and services for adjunct faculty and the Clark School's own professional and traditional students.
