General Body and Professional Meetings:

Our General Body meetings are held on the second Monday of every month at 5:30pm once in room ENGR 1179.

Fall 2008:
  • Sept 15 @ 5:30pm in EGR1202: Come and learn about the projects that were implemented this summer and new projects you can get involved in this fall. FREE PIZZA to all attendees! All students from ALL majors are welcome to attend

  • Spring 2008:
  • Feb 11 @ 5:30pm in EGR1202: We discussed the project implementations in Burkina Faso (lighting) and Brazil from this past winter break. Ecuador and Burkina Faso (water) teams also gave an update on their progress thus far and meeting times for the semester. Returning and new students are ALL welcome.
  • March 3 @ 5:30pm in EGR1179: We had Dr Chambers from the Department of Anthropology come and speak to us.
  • April 14 @ 5:30pm in EGR1179: We discussed the national conference, project updates, and future projects. We also held nominations for candidates for next year's Executive Board
  • Fall 2007:
  • Sept 10 @ 5:30pm in EGR1202: Overview of what project teams did this summer and how you can get involved
  • Oct 8 @ 5:30pm in EGR1179: Professor Etlin, a distinguished Professor from the Architecture department, who is currently teaching an honors seminar about Sustainability gave a presentation on his work.
  • Nov 12 @ 5:30pm in EGR1179:
    Dr. John Grayzel, a former senior official with the United States Agency for International began his tenure as Baha'i Chair for World Peace in early January. Dr. Grayzel succeeds the inaugural holder, Dr. Suheil Bushrui, who retired after holding the position since 1992.
  • The Professional Chapter Meetings are usually held directly after the General Body meeting in ENGR 1179 at 7pm. See dates above under General Body meetings. Both Professional engineers and students are welcome to attend.

    Welcome to a new semester at UMCP! We are excited to have everyone back this fall. Our first General Body Meeting will be on September 15th, 2008 in EGR1202 (GL Martin Hall) at 5:30pm. We will be discussing the projects that implemented this summer and upcoming projects that you can get involved with. This is a great way to find out more about our organization and better understand ways to get involved.

    Annoucement: EWB-USA East Coast Fall 2008 Workshop
    This Workshop will be held November 7-9. Topics ranging from best practices, project safety, new technologies, and project management will be covered throughout the weekend workshop. The event will be hosted by EWB-UMCP and will take place on the University of Maryland, College Park campus, only a 20 minutes Metro ride from downtown Washington, DC.
    Please save the date and join us in our mission to unite and strengthen EWB-USA and continue making a difference throughout the world. Stay tuned for more workshop details and logistical information.

    Engineers Without Borders 4th Annual Golf Outing & Lunch Banquet
    Come join fellow EWB memeber on October 17th, 2008 at the Cross Creek Golf Club in Beltsville, MD for a day of Golfing. The event starts at 8:30am, the lunch banquet is at 2pm.     Thank you all for voting in the 2008-2009 elections for the EWB-UMCP executive board. We have selected a new executive board for the upcoming school year.     Review of Spring 2008:
    Our chapter's Burkina Faso Lighting team and Brazil team sucessfully completed their project in their respective contries this winter. Our first general body meeting was on February 11, and our second general body meeting was on March 3. We had a guest speaker, Dr. Erve Chambers, Chair of University of Maryland's Department of Anthropology, visit us to talk about applied anthropology and how it relates to EWB and our mission. Our last general body meeting was on April 14th. We discussed what we learned at the national conference and heard other updates. We also had nominations for executive board for next year.

    This summer the Burkina Faso Water project traveled to Dissin to implement their project.
